Swiss School

First in its kind in Europe
Conservation of nature
Business management and scientific knowledge for sustainability
Leaders that can create economic growth and sustainability development: creative solutions
Goal: students to enter different fields and apply sustainability to their lives (in a business environment)
Only business school in Europe that offers bachelors and masters of business administration and sustainability  management.
Students will understand life cycle analysis (where to start)

Planet is deteriorating: global warming, pollution, deforestation etc
80% of waste/CO2 emmitions comes from food
Ecologic Footprint calculation: measures the surface area needed to produce the resources we consume in daily life and to absorb the waste generated by the use of these resources.
If there is no change in production, by 2050 we would need twice the earth surface for CO2 and to store waste
Key factor: INDUSTRY= to produce products that have less environmental impact
There are products all ready that are "ecofreindlier" though if people stop buying them because other products are offered then the gain is cancelled out because of the rebound effect:an increase in consumption
Ecolabel= provides a reliable resource to know what is really reliable and ecofriendly

2 men from Switzerland and trying to create an solar powered air plane
They had to overcome many obstacles
"Every difficulty is a potential opportunity"
If you use only what the school tout you, you will never be as successful as others because they know the same as you: in order to be more successful you have to go beyond knowledge (go into exploration, innovation  pioneering  spirit: think out of the box)
Invent a better future: New solutions to invent the future

Trying out the airplanes
Pressure for pilot but theoretically the plane can buy forever
Most things on the plane do not use as much energy

TIME WAS UP

How can I apply sustainable consumption in my city? There are many ways to do this. For instance, I could reduce my impact by taking shorter showers and turning off electronic devices when they are not being used. I can tell my parents about what is happening and make them aware about the impact we make by using the car, for example. Recycling is another way to help the environment. Also, I can focus on my consumption of products that are not "eco-friendly".

Sustainable consumption & production: a greener world, is an example on how to do this. There are many products that have the "eco" label. The only thing I have to do is start consuming these products. I am offered good quality and my impact will reduce greatly.  As I consume these products, I would not only be helping the company and the environment,  but I would promote the products and encourage others to buy them as well. For me, lowering my footprint is not hard, why not start now?
